Carol ZHOU

Carol Zhou joined the Beijing Bureau of the Phoenix Television as intern reporter a year ahead of her graduation from The Communication University of China (formerly know as the Beijing Broadcasting Institute) in 2003 following a four-year study at the Beijing Second Foreign Language University which is a hot-bed of China’s foreign services elites.

Carol had covered a wide-range of domestic breaking news during her post at the Beijing Bureau, including coal mine collapse accidents and the SARS outbreak in the capital city. Being a bi-lingual journalist, Carol was reposted to Hong Kong headquarters in 2007 after spending a year with the Master of Journalism at the University of Hong Kong. Since then, Carol has been dispatched to cover breaking foreign assignments, including the conflict in Libya, the occupy Bangkok, Myanmar general election and Vietnam-Cambodia border conflict. During her assignments on Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi's intensive visit to Africa, Europe and Southeastern Asia, Carol broke numerous exclusive stories on China's new foreign initiative.
