Lingyun ZHANG

Lingyun Zhang is currently the Executive News Editor of Phoenix Satellite TV.  She has been working with the network since 2001.

Lingyun began her journalistic career with Phoenix TV’s Beijing Bureau. Due to her outstanding performance, she was subsequently promoted as a senior correspondent and transferred to the Hong Kong Headquarters.

As a veteran political correspondent for more than a decade, Lingyun has covered numerous major events both in and outside China. She has frequently travelled around the world as an entourage of Chinese leaders. Her ability to facilitate exclusive interviews with top Chinese leaders is remarkable. And she is one of the very few Chinese journalists who have the privilege to travel abroad with two Chinese Presidents consecutively, firstly with Hu Jintao and now with Xi Jinping.

Lingyun has also visited more than 50 countries to cover major international conferences, notably the APEC CEO Summit, G20 summits, the East Asia Summits, the Asia-Europe Leaders Meetings and the BRICS Summit. The list of her exclusive interviews with top politicians includes José Manuel Barroso, Christine Lagarde, Enrique Peña Nieto, Nawaz Sharif, Hu Jintao and Wen Jiabao.

Lingyun is also a diligent writer. Her publication topics range from Chinese diplomacy to TV journalism. In 2013, she earned her Ph.D degree from the Communication University of China.
