Every second, every minute, and every hour of our lives come and go.  We expect it to come but do not realize it when it has past us by.  Maybe it is because time is a concept, no end nor beginning, but only exist as it is in the present.  Live in the present, plan for the future, but never forget the past.

 On May 12, 2008, the present shook before our eyes.  It changed our future and made what will become the past a forever imprint in our hearts.  It was an unplanned, unexpected, and unforgiving catastrophe.  It uprooted lives, and replaced it with anguish, sorrow, and hopelessness in those affected.  What could we have done to prevent such natural disaster?  As mighty as we have become and think that we are, we cannot compete with Mother Nature.  But is that answer satisfactory enough for the victims, the orphans, the widowers, the dying, and the already perished?  If you asked me, I wouldn't care for your answer.  No answer can erase the memory, ease the heart and reaffirm the hope in life for those who were affected. 

Words are physically meant to be written and spoken, but action behind words can move mountains and instill hope one drop at a time.  The humanitarians who carry out those actions bring hope and a piece of life back to those whose lives been uprooted.  There's nothing more we can say or need to say, but a tremendous amount that we can do.  What we all can do is remember.  Remember that they need our help and care.  Remember that there's still life to be lived.  And remember that we are all apart of this world.  This year, in hopes of doing more, 2008 Miss Chinese Cosmos Pageant will be suspended, and efforts will be transferred to the post-quake reconstruction.  As the first-runner up of 2007 Miss Chinese Cosmos Pageant, and more importantly, as a person touched by the human spirit, I want to do more!

I still wish, in spite of this devastating turmoil, that everything happens for a reason.  That reason may be buried and covered with dust in the present, but I will continue to have the hope - that in the future, through it all, the sky will be bluer, and good will surpass it all. 

Please remember that there's no such thing as doing too little. 

We all can help pave a new road for the future.

每一分,每一秒,每一小时都有生命的降临和逝去。我们期盼生命的到来，但是不曾意识到当与她擦肩而过之时。或许这是因为时间就是一个概念：没有结尾也没有开始，仅仅存在于现在。让我们为现在而生活，为将来而努力，但是永远都不要忘记过去。

2008年5月12日，它瞬间让我们震惊，从而改变了我们的将来，并且让即将成为过去的今天永远印刻在我们的心中。这是一场没有任何征兆，突如其来，暴虐无情的灾难，把我们鲜活的生命连根拔起，取而代之的是痛苦，悲伤，和万念俱灰。怎样才能抵御这种天灾？我们可能会这样思考，虽然人类已经十分强大，然而却远不能和大自然母亲抗衡。但是这样的回答能否让受难者，孤儿，寡妇，将要离去和已经离去的人们得到安慰呢？如果你问我，我对答案并不感兴趣。因为任何答案都不能够让这些受难的同胞抹去记忆，平复心灵，重建希望。

我们可以用文字来写和说，但是文字背后的行动才是真正能够撼动山川，把大爱化作希望的一点一滴注入受难同胞的心灵。那些付诸行动的爱心人士把希望和生命的曙光带给背井离乡的人们。任何语言在此时都会显得贫乏和苍白，然而我们可以做的却有很多很多。让这场灾难永远留在我们的记忆中；记住他们需要我们的帮助和关心，记住生命永远不息，记住我们都是地球母亲的孩子。今年，为了能够更多地帮助灾区人民，2008年度中华小姐环球大赛将会暂时搁置，这样可以把所有的精力转向震后的重建工作中。作为2007年度中华小姐的亚军，更重要的是，身为一个被人类精神深深打动的人，我愿意做得更多！

我还希望，尽管这是一场毁灭性的灾难，但是每件事情的发生都会有一个原因。这个原因有可能会被现在的漫天尘土所掩盖，但是我依旧留存希望--在不久的将来，天空会变得更蓝，一切都会变得更好。

不要觉得自己做得太少。

我们都要尽自己的全力为灾区人民的未来铺设新的道路。
